This training explores the root causes of domestic violence; beliefs about healthy relationships; risk factors and risk assessment; safety planning; legal advocacy; advocacy for parents on behalf of children; domestic violence laws in Virginia; confidentiality and safe recordkeeping; creating a multicultural environment; systems advocacy.

Action Alliance Basic Advocacy and Continuing Advocacy Trainings are designed for advocates working with people who have experienced/are experiencing sexual and/or domestic violence and are conducted by members of the Action Alliance Training Institute Faculty and Staff. While these series are designed for staff and volunteers of Sexual and Domestic Violence Agencies (SDVA), the content will be helpful to allied professionals including healthcare providers, therapists/counselors, homeless services, faith communities, social workers, victim/witness assistance staff, and more.
