Basic Intensive Advocacy Training (BIAT)

Eastern Shore
Location TBA

This is a joint training between the Virginia Victim Assistance Network (VVAN) and the Action Alliance.

The Basic Intensive Advocacy Training (BIAT) is a collaborative 2-day training designed for both victim-witness and sexual and domestic violence agency advocates in their first two years of advocacy work. This training provides and overview of the role and responsibility of advocates; the guiding principles of a trauma informed response and the impact and effects of trauma on individuals; an overview of the civil and criminal justice system and tools available for effective advocacy; the importance of a collaborative response; and the value of self-care and self- reflection in our work to support victims of violence. It is encouraged that advocates in the same communities attend together, as the training includes a focus on collaborative responses to better serve victims of violence.

Registration is through VVAN- Click here!
